Machiya renovation projects can offer opportunities to work with historical materials that are no longer produced today.

One such material in YA's recent projects was textured glass pieces from the late1960s, a time in Japan's Showa era marked by the rapid economic growth driven by modern technologies.

Recognizing something consistent with the traditional Japanese sensibility, YA's design aimed to highlight the glass in this project.
