Another Machiya renovation project designed by YA has been under way.
This Machiya was originally built in the 1930s.
YA's design incorporates some of the original house's materials such as these textured glass pieces from the1960s, a period often referred to as Mid-Showa in Japan.
The Mid-Showa textured glass has something consistent with the traditional Japanese aesthetic. Or could it be called Japanese sensibility? In any case, that's what YA's design is meant to highlight.
